Shah Rukh and Kajol on TV

The trailer of Karan Johar’s next, My Name is Khan will be out in 70 countries on TV on 16th December.

Star TV Network will showcase the first look of My Name is Khan at 10 pm across 70 countries worldwide.

The much anticipated film will hit the screen on February 12, 2010 and is produced by Karan Johar and SRK jointly.

Watch out for Kajol and of Shah Rukh who will reunite after 8 years in My Name is Khan after Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham.

"It broke my heart" - Priyanka Chopra

What's Your Raashee? might have earned Priyanka Chopra a name in the Guinness Book of World Records for the 12 roles she played but not without a heartbreak. Now, she admitted that the failure of the film broke her heart.

Priyanka was hurt by the performance of What's Your Raashee? at the box office because she had put in lots of efforts and hard work in doing her 12 roles. She said that it would have been more painful had she not received appreciation for her performance.

It maybe recalled that Priyanka got lots of accolades for her role in the hit film Kaminey starring Shahid Kapoor and directed by Vishal Bhardwaj. But her next film What's Your Raashee? directed by Ashutosh Gowariker with Harman Baweja as the hero, failed terribly at the box office in spite of the hype it enjoyed.

I have seen R. Balki’s Paa, which is smartly designed and written for Amitabh Bachchan who plays Auro, a 13-year-old boy suffering with a premature aging disease named Progeria.

He wishes to communicate that it is an uncommon disease and needs proper care and attention from parents as well as the society at large. It is also the story of Abhishek Bachchan and Vidya Balan being lovers during their college years in London.

When Vidya gets pregnant, Abhishek, a politician’s son, is hesitant to be a father and they break-up. Vidya disappears and comes to her single mother (Arundhati Nag) and decides to bring up her child Auro at Lucknow.

Auro is a peculiar kid with a nasal voice, crooked teeth, gangly gait and bulging veins and looks alien. It is a simple story well told. You may cry but will also enjoy the sharp and witty dialogues.

As Neha gears up for her next film Raat Gayi Baat Gayi, where she is the central protagonist, she also reflects on De Dana Dan, one of the few successes that Bollywood has seen this year.

Riya Sen goes supernatural

In her next, a supernatural thriller titled Jennifer, actress Riya Sen plays the protagonist. She is paired with newcomer Eddie Seth. She says, "Jennifer is based on jinns or Muslim spirits."

 She doesn't play a ghost in the film but a certain character in the film gets obsessed by her. "That's usually the case with jinns. They exist and either help people or ruin them."

She claims to have done her own styling in the film and has apparently worn minimal make-up. She admits, "My look is very natural. I play a very confident, no-nonsense, girl who is comfortable in her skin.

The character smokes in the film and that's shown in a good light. People who smoke and drink are not bad people!"

Shahrukh ka jadoo in Kolkata

Shahrukh Khan had recently sprinkled his magic in Kolkata by gracing the finale of the popular quiz show, ‘Dadagiri Unlimited’ hosted by Kolkata Knight Riders captain Sourav Ganguly.

 However, the Baadshah landed at the avenue, at Mohun Bagan Athletic Club quite late. According to sources, SRK was supposed to be in Kolkata around 3.40 pm but his flight landed around 7.54 pm; a delay said to be due to the fog. It is heard that Shahrukh had boarded a full economy class flight.

Shahrukh Khan: Dulha Mil Gaya Music Review

Finally (and yes finally) Dulha Mil Gaya gets ready for it's arrival. After being in news for close to two years, it was high time that the film eventually sees a release. What also gets one excited about the music album of Dulha Mil Gaya is the fact that it has Lalit Pandit (of Jatin-Lalit duo) at the helm of affairs.

Together, Jatin and Lalit gave chartbuster tracks for many a Shah Rukh Khan films like Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, Mohabbatein, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Yes Boss and the biggest of them all - Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge. However, ever since their split, they haven't been able to come up with even a single memorable album. This is why one looks forward to see what Lalit has managed to create for this film that has Shah Rukh Khan playing a pivotal role. Muddassar Aziz, who is also the director of the movie, writes the lyrics.

MUSIC
This one is a voluminous album and the first track to come is 'Akela Dil' that has a groove similar to that of 'Gela Gela Dil Gela Gela' (Aitraaz). An unmistakable calypso rhythm is on the fore front here too, given the fact that the film is set in the Caribbean. Adnan Sami gets into an intoxicated and relaxed mood as per the demand of the situation and gets his own lazy style in place to sing 'Akela Dil' that has Anushka Manchanda giving able support. This is a kind of track that should add on to the visual appeal of the film. It's 'remix version' adds on the zing and should find a place in the clubs and discotheques.

Deepika joins the crorepati bandwagon

Deepika Padukone has emerged as the reigning queen of the ad world during 2009. The actress has doubled her take-home income compared to what she was worth in 2007-2008. Deepika is much sought after in both premium and mass brands, right from high-end watches, airlines, clotheslines and even chewing gum.

According to industry estimates, from a time when she was charging around Rs 60 lakh for an endorsement, Deepika now demands almost Rs 1.5 crore per ad, following in the footsteps of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif (both around Rs 2 crore an ad) and Priyanka Chopra (Rs 1.5-2 crore).

"I think what made people accept me is that I can be glamourous and also the girl-next-door. I have heard this from people who have approached me with campaigns and endorsement offers. I have worked really hard to get what I'm getting. I'm very passionate about movies and my constant effort is to outdo myself and challenge my acting skills. I'm happy with what I have got - but this isn't enough," Deepika told a daily.

Salman bans bikini for Katrina

As we all know Bollywood hunk Salman Khan is a possessive boyfriend. He has put on certain restriction on Katrina Kaif which sometimes takes a toll on her career. Rakesh Roshan first roped in Katrina Kaif for ‘Krrish 2’ opposite Hrithik Roshan but when it was learnt to Katrina that she need to wear a bikini in the film, she turned down the offer as she was not allowed to wear a bikini. Priyanka Chopra, Miss World in 2000, revisited the scene of one of her greatest triumphs when she acted as a judge at the latest Miss World contest last night at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg. “When Julia Morley, who is in charge of the beauty pageant, invited me to be a judge, I was ecstatic,” she said. Although the hot money was on India’s Pooja Chopra to lift the crown, she failed to make the final seven and the winner was Kaiane Aldorino, Miss Gibraltar. Miss Mexico and Miss South Africa were the runners-up.

Priyanka recalled the effect that winning Miss World had had on her own life. “It was definitely a push when I won Miss World, and when I went back to India, there were lots of movie offers, some of which came after I had won Miss India,” she explained, “Miss World is a global platform and it's truly an honour to be one. When it came to my career, the title jump-started it, and after that it was me."

Georgetown University in USA has come out with a list of 500 of the world's most influential Muslims, including Shahrukh Khan, former Indian President A P J Abdul Kalam, and composer A R Rahman. A chat with SRK on how he feels about being in that list:

How do you feel on being the only one from the entertainment world being selected in the top 500 besides A R Rahman?
I don't think a list of this nature is of a competitive type to feel proud about. It's not about a list of awards that I have won. I am a Muslim by birth and because of the kind of cinema I do, I assume must be influencing lives of people across the world. I have been actively working in the film industry for 18 years and my work has gone across the world, my films and done well in many places including Germany, Poland, Dubai, USA, Morocco and South East Asia. People know me well because of my films but I never felt that I was different. I'm in the field of mass communication and am doing my work. That's it.

Why do you feel you were chosen?
I think it could be because of the kind of films I do. I try to do films that have variety and are about goodness and hope. They give a direction to a life. I have done films on romances to patriotic dramas like Chak De! and funny entertainers like Om Shanti Om — films that try to give a kind of positive message to people. I hope in this I am able to influence the lives of many, especially youngsters and children. It's about giving some kind of direction to their lives. Like I might tell my children to study hard or teach them how to lead a good life.

What do you feel is your contribution as an educated liberal Muslim in the world today?
These are categories I am not comfortable with as I don't think I have done much to justify the tags. Though I am very proud to be a Muslim and an educated and liberal one at that, I am immensely proud to be Indian. I have very strong views on religion and how people should behave but that's about it. I just do my work. I truly believe your work defines you. I am not a social activist. I spend time with my family. At the most, I teach my kids to do namaaz and pray to Allah. Maybe I have given neat and clean hits which has given me money and fame but for me it's been like a good regular job. I have chosen to do cinema which has a very positive impact and that's what influences people and gets me the tags.

Katrina Kaif shops from roadside stalls

Katrina Kaif advised complete bed rest

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif, who was diagnosed with jaundice and low haemoglobin count recently, is in danger again with her health deteriorating each passing day. People close to her are worried about her health.

She was taken to a suburban hospital again Yesterday (December 13) for further tests, as her hemoglobin count continued to fall despite the treatment. It took almost a day to complete all the complicated medical tests. Now, she has been advised complete bed rest by the doctors.

Sources said that Katrina's health took a dip after attending two consecutive nights on Friday and Saturday for the sangeet and wedding of her boyfriend Salman Khan's close family-friend Krishan Narayan’s daughter.

It is said that the doctors have not found out the cause of the fall in the haemoglobin count.

Ranbir Kapoor finally says yes to Ram Gopal Varma

Ranbir Kapoor and Ram Gopal varma are finally coming together for Romancing The Stone remake in which Michael Douglas played the lead role.

Confirming the news, Ramu told a news daily, "We have met and ‘Romancing The Stone’ was one of the ideas that we exchanged. Ranbir seemed enthusiastic about it. But it won`t exactly be like ‘Romancing The Stone’. Only the core of its idea will be taken."

Romancing the stone is a story of a writer of romantic novels, Joan Wilder travels to south America to look for and rescue her kidnapped sister. She finds herself stranded in the jungles and finds help in the form of the soldier of fortune Jack Colton. The two go through a number of adventures, deal with the bad guys and end up falling in love.

Interestingly, Ramu was to earlier adapt another Robert Zemeckis film Back To The Future based on the theory of time travel with Shah Rukh in the lead.

Aishwarya Rai to star as old lady

After Amitabh Bachchan’s ground breaking transformation to Auro in Paa, its now the turn of daughter-in-law Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan to undergo a drastic makeover.

Buzz has it that Aishwarya will be playing an old lady in a few scenes in Vipul Shah’s forthcoming film Action Replay, for which she will have intensive make up sessions with Hollywood make up artists.

She will be transformed into an aged woman by Hollywood make-up stylist Paul Pattison who had earlier worked over the looks of Mel Gibson (Braveheart) and Tom Cruise (Mission Impossible).

Besides Ash, Action Replay also stars Akshay Kumar and Randhir Kapoor. The film is currently under production and is expected to release in April 2010.

Though there were shades of Akshay Kumar's life (which was just specific to his journey from 'Chandni Chowk' to Bangkok), there wasn't anything else in the Nikhil Advani directed film that bore similarities.

Perhaps learning from the entire episode, Shahid Kapoor is understandably denying that his forthcoming release CHANCE PE DANCE is autobiographical in nature. "No, the film isn't an autobiography by any means.

That would be completely wrong to state. Yes, there are some similarities in my personal life when compared to that of the character of Sameer that I play in the film.

Krrish sequel looses Katrina…

The buzz was already making its rounds about Deepika Padukone who might mostly take the mantle.

However, there was also Katrina Kaif in the director’s choice list. And now, they said to have confirmed on the tall dimple beauty.

Rumour mills spill it out that in fact Katrina was the preferred one.

But as the lass had given her nod for Dostana 2, it was not possible for Katrina to accommodate to this Hrithik starrer in her work list.

Salman Khan to Kick with Shahrukh's heroine

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala who is making Kick, the remake of a Telugu film starring Ravi Teja and directed by Surender Reddy, has got Ghajini director A. R. Murugadoss to direct it.

The film stars Salman Khan and the lead heroine will be Deepika Padukone. She was asked to do the role when she was working on Housefull with Sajid Nadiadwala.

Nadiadwala was a little uncertain about approaching her as he felt she might have some issues working with Salman, as she is more inclined towards the Shahrukh Khan-Farah Khan-Karan Johar’s group.

However, she told him that she has no qualms about working with Salman.

Nadiadwala got Murugadoss to do the film, as he doesn’t think South Indian directors should be doing Hindi remakes.

Aishwarya Rai goes old for Action Replay

After dad-in-law's role of a 13-year-old progeria-affected kid in Paa, Aishwarya Rai is set to bend time in Vipul Shah's Action Replay. The former beauty queen will play an old lady in certain sequences and it is being reported that Ash spends over four to five hours in make-up to prepare for the role.

Vipul Shah has also hired expert Hollywood make-up artists to prep Ash for the role. While Christien Tinsley and Dominie Till designed Amitabh's Auro, Ash is being worked on by Paul Pattison, whose previous projects include Mel Gibson's Braveheart.

Though the principal shooting of the film began early this year, there is still one schedule waiting to be shot.

A few months back the makers had announced April 2010 as the tentative month for the film's release but chances are that the film may move to a later day.
